Moon Estates Ltd
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Moon Estates Ltd respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, who we share it with and the rights you have in relation to your personal data.
1.Who we are
Moon Estates Ltd is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Moon Estates Ltd, company number 17260369, is registered in England and Wales. Our registered office and full company information are available through the Company Information link in the website footer. If you have a question about your personal information, please contact us using our Contact Us form.
2.Information we collect
Depending on how you use the website, we may collect purchaser information including name, billing and delivery address, email address, telephone number, order and payment information and purchase history; recipient/registered-owner information including name to appear on the deed, delivery address where sent directly, email address and telephone number where required for delivery or a Digital Gift Announcement, allocated lunar plot number and acreage, and personal message supplied by the purchaser; website/technical information including IP address, browser/device information, website activity, referral source/campaign information and cookie/consent information; and information you provide through the Contact Us form.
3.Lunar land allocation records
An important part of the Moon Estates service is maintaining a long-term record of the lunar land that has been allocated and the person named as its owner in the Moon Estates records.
We therefore retain the information necessary to identify an allocation - including the registered owner’s name, allocated plot number, acreage and relevant allocation information - for as long as reasonably necessary to maintain the integrity of the Moon Estates lunar land register.
We rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining an accurate and enduring record of lunar land allocations for this purpose.
We do not retain all information connected with an order indefinitely simply because the plot allocation is retained. Other customer, delivery, payment and communications information is subject to its own appropriate retention period.
4.How we use personal information
We use personal information to process and fulfil orders; allocate lunar land and maintain the Moon Estates land register; personalise and produce deeds and other documents; create and deliver Digital Gift Announcements; process payments and refunds; arrange Royal Mail delivery and tracking; provide Find My Order and historical plot services; respond to customer enquiries; prevent fraud and maintain website security; operate and improve the website; understand website and purchasing activity; comply with legal, accounting and regulatory obligations; and send marketing where you have chosen to receive it.
5.Our legal bases for using your information
Depending on the circumstances, we process personal information because it is necessary for a contract; because of our legitimate interests, including maintaining the integrity of the Moon Estates plot register, providing customer service, protecting the website and understanding business performance; because you have given consent, including for email marketing and certain cookies/tracking technologies where required; or because we have a legal obligation.
When someone purchases land on the Moon as a gift, we may receive personal information about the recipient from the purchaser rather than directly from the recipient. We use that information only as reasonably necessary to fulfil the gift, register the lunar plot, deliver the physical order and/or provide the Digital Gift Announcement requested by the purchaser.
6.Marketing
We will only send marketing emails where we have an appropriate basis to do so. At checkout, customers can choose whether they would like to receive Moon news, stories and occasional offers from Moon Estates. The marketing checkbox will not be pre-ticked. We record marketing preferences, including when and how consent was provided. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent transactional communications necessary to manage an order or service.
7.Who we share information with
We only share personal information where necessary to operate the service. This may include Stripe for payment processing; Royal Mail for delivery, postage, tracking and fulfilment; website, hosting and technical service providers; Digital Gift Announcement service providers where required; email/newsletter providers; and analytics providers subject to cookie and consent choices. We may also disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. We do not sell personal information.
8.Payment information
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Moon Estates does not need to store complete payment-card details on its own systems. We retain the payment and transaction references necessary to administer orders, refunds and financial records.
9.How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Lunar land allocation records are retained on a long-term basis for as long as reasonably necessary to maintain the integrity and historical continuity of the Moon Estates lunar land register. We retain only the personal information necessary for that continuing purpose. Other information associated with an order is retained according to the purpose for which it is required and our applicable retention periods.
10.International transfers
Some technology providers we use may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we use appropriate safeguards as required by UK data-protection law.
11.Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. Access to customer, order and lunar plot information within Moon Estates is restricted to authorised users.
12.Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights including access, correction, deletion in certain circumstances, restriction or objection to certain processing, transfer of certain information, withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent, and the right to complain about how your information has been handled. To exercise your rights, contact us through the Contact Us form. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
13.Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the operation of the website and, subject to your choices, for analytics and other purposes. Further information is provided in our Cookies Policy.
14.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on moonestates.com and will show the date it was last updated.
