In September 2000, a British family business offered the world something few people had considered buying: land on the Moon. Hundreds of media reports followed in a single day, with founder Francis Williams appearing live on Channel 4 News alongside Sir Patrick Moore.
Moon Estates gifts subsequently reached the shelves of WHSmith and Tesco, taking lunar land onto the British high street. Giving someone land on the Moon became a household concept, even featuring as a gift between characters in Coronation Street.
Founded by Francis and Sue Williams, Moon Estates is now run by their daughter, Angela Young. Redesigned deeds and packaging, a new website and personalised video announcements mark the next chapter for the business, more than a quarter of a century after its launch.
