Selling land on the Moon since 2000.
Moon Estates began more than a quarter of a century ago with an extraordinary idea.
In 2000, Francis Williams was appointed a Lunar Ambassador by Dennis Hope, founder of the Lunar Embassy. Lunar holdings were allocated to Moon Estates, and Francis and Sue Williams began building a business around giving people the opportunity to have a piece of the Moon of their own.
And then the story took off.
When Moon Estates launched in September 2000, the reaction was extraordinary.
On 8 September 2000, the story travelled around the world, generating hundreds of pieces of media coverage in a single day. Newspapers, television and radio wanted to know about the British company selling land on the Moon.
Francis appeared live on Channel 4 News at London’s Science Museum alongside legendary astronomer Sir Patrick Moore, and a documentary was subsequently made about Moon Estates.
The attention didn’t disappear after the launch. Moon Estates continued to feature in national and international media as fascination with lunar ownership grew.
26 years of giving people the Moon
What began as an unusual idea became an enduring family business.
Over the years, Moon Estates has given people around the world their own piece of the Moon - bought as birthday presents, wedding gifts, romantic gestures, Christmas presents and, sometimes, simply because somebody wanted some Moon land of their own.
The world has changed considerably since 2000.
The appeal of being able to say “I own land on the Moon” hasn’t.
A new chapter
Today, Moon Estates is run by Francis and Sue’s daughter, continuing the business they started together more than 26 years ago.
This new chapter brings a new Moon Estates experience to a new generation, while keeping the imagination, personality and sense of possibility that have been part of the company from the beginning.
