Apollo 50 is an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing at the iconic Goonhilly satellite communications site based on Cornwall’s Lizard peninsula.. The one-off special event will celebrate this monumental anniversary of history with an educational and entertaining day of music, science, art, and culture.
One of the bands not to be missed is Orbital, an English electronic dance music duo from Sevenoaks, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll.
Orbital will present a DJ set in front of the grade 2 listed giant satellite dish Arthur. Featuring both brothers, Paul and Phil Hartnoll with their famous torch-glasses were there at the start of the rave revolution in the nineties, and since then have been key protagonists in the evolution of dance music.
It is 30 years since their beautifully euphoric ‘Chime’ smash hit and still they draw huge crowds across the world because of their exhilarating live shows and new and equally intoxicating tracks such as ‘P.H.U.K’ (Please Help the U.K.).
The duo quickly became a household name in the rave scene throughout the nineties and went on to become one of the most recognised duos in the scene, known for acid house classics such as Halcyon and On and On, Chime and Belfast. Fast forward to 2019 and Orbital have been sampled in almost every rave and 90’s culture film, with the duo revered as legendary figures within their scene, selling out any club shows they perform at and headlining major festivals across the globe.
