Twitter is going absolutely nuts today, following the sneak release of the John Lewis 2015 Christmas advert. The campaign, which according to Marketing Week cost £7 million is due to launch on television this evening (6th November). The advert features a young girl looking through her telescope at the Moon, when she spies an elderly gent appearing somewhat sad and lonely. She buys him a present, attaches it to balloons, and it miraculously lands in his waiting hands. He longingly looks through his telescope at Earth, to see the young girl looking at him through hers and smiling. He sheds a tear and as The Huffington Post put it, “The nation is officially an emotional wreck.”
It’s great to see the Moon once again symbolising hope.
