Random Acts of Kindness | How to be Really Good

The following are some of the Random Acts of Kindness that we can perform on your behalf. If you have ideas of your own, then please email us and let us know at raok@moonestates.com.

Leaving Bank notes for Strangers

If you choose to sponsor this RAoK, MoonEstates.com will deposit bank notes in random places for strangers to find.

The notes (£5, £10 and £20) will be left inside books in book stores, in phone boxes, in public parks, or somewhere else where a completely random and unknown person will find it. This will hopefully put a smile on their face for the rest of the day! And just to make sure there's no confusion, we will leave a little note with the money explaining that someone (you!) has sponsored this Random Act of Kindness and that they should spend the money on something nice.

Just imagine how please you'd be if you found a bank note in a completely unexpected place, like inside the book you'd just purchased. You'd be dead chuffed, no. Well, if you sponsor this RAoK then you'll be making sure this happens to someone else (you know what they say - what goes around comes around).

We will happily accept any suggestions you have for places that we could leave the money - just send an email to raok@moonestates.com. with your suggestion (although please note that if you email us with your home address, or where you work, that's not really in the spirit of things).

Please note that we require at least three people to sponsor this RAoK each time we carry this out (the number of people we require depends on the denomination of the bank note we'll vary it from £5 to £20).

Sending Toys to a Children's Hospice

If you choose to sponsor this Random Act of Kindness, MoonEstates.com will send a box full of toys to a randomly-selected Children's Hospice.

MoonEstates.com will randomly choose a Children's Hospice from a list of all of those in the country, and we will dispatch a box of toys to them.

Just to make sure there's no confusion, will will enclose a short note with the toys explaining that some people (including you!) have sponsored this Random Act of Kindness and that we hope the children enjoy the toys.

Obviously the benfits if this RAoK don't need explaining - it just involves bringing a little bit of joy into the lives of some children in the UK who are going through a really tough time. We will make sure the toys we select are safe, durable and suitable for as wider range of ages as possible.

We will happily accept any suggestions you have for toys that we could send to the children (maybe you have children that have a particular favourite toy that has withstood the test of time. If so, we want to hear about it). Just send an email to raok@moonestates.com with your suggestion. (This, of course, is entirely optional).

Please note that the box will include a variety of toys - some will be small ones which just one RAoK sponsor has funded, and other will be larger toys that several people have sponsored. At least 20 people need to select this RAoK for each full box of toys.

Sending Toys & Treats to an Animal Rescue Centre

If you choose to sponsor this RAoK, MoonEstates.com will randomly choose a suitable rescue centre from a list of all of those in the country, and we will dispatch a box of toys and treats to them.

Just to make sure there's no confusion, we will enclose a short note with the toys explaining that some people (including you!) have sponsored this Random Act of Kindness and that we hope the animals enjoy playing with the toys and eating the treats.

Just picture a lonely dog receiving a brand new toy to play with! There's not much to beat that... Many resuce centres are badly under funded and some can barely afford the food and vet's bills for their animals. We will make sure the animals receive a few luxuries that the centre might no be able to afford. We will ensure the toys we select are safe, durable and suitable for the animals that are looked after at the particular centre.

If you have suggestions for particularly good and durable pet toys that we can send, please send an email to raok@moonestates.com with your suggestion.

Please note that for every person that selects this RAoK a toy or treat will be purchased and sent to the chosen rescue centre. We need at least 10 people to select this RAoK for each box of toys that we send out (this will vary depending on the size of the rescue centre that has been selected to receive each box).

Sending Flowers to a Hospital or Hospice

If you choose to sponsor this RAoK, MoonEstates.com will send a bunch of flowers to a ward at a hospital or hospice somewhere in the UK.

MoonEstates.com will randomly choose a hospital or hospice from all of those in the country, and we will then choose a suitable ward within that hospital to send a large bouquet of flowers to. (At our expense we will also post a disposable camera to the ward in the hope that they'll take some photos of the flowers being enjoyed, so that we can post them on our website).

Just to make sure there's no confusion, we will enclose a short note with the flowers explaining that some people (including you!) have sponsored this Random Act of Kindness and that we hope the flowers will be enjoyed by everyone on the ward.

Everyone knows that a hospital is not usually the most cheerful place to be. Some people are lucky enough to receive flowers from friends and relatives, but not everyone is. If a ward receives a big bunch of flowers then everyone on that ward will know someone is thinking of them - hopefully the staff will too.

The flowers will be a quality bouquet which we will order from a florist nearby.

If you have a suggestion for a hospice or hospital that you feel would appreciate this gift, please email us and we will try to oblige.

Please note that we need at least 10 people to select this RAoK for each bunch of flowers that we send (this is to ensure that we can send a nice big bunch of flowers sourced from a reputable florist).

Cleaning a Beach

If you choose to sposor this RAoK, MoonEstates.com will arrange to have a beach in beautiful Cornwall cleaned up on your behalf.

MoonEstates.com will choose a publicly-owned beach, and will arrange to have all or part of it cleaned. Photos will be taken and posted on the website. We will choose a beach that we know is in particular need of cleaning, and is used by both locals and visitors to the area.

Some beaches are sadly neglected and become littered with human rubbish, particularly during the busy Summer season. This can lead to injuries and even death of the local wildlife, and means that visitors to the beach have to deal with the mess that others have left behind. There is also the problem of discarded fishing nets which can trap animals and birds. Often charities have to arrange to have these beaches cleaned, but we will arrange to clean a beach ourselves by having you sponsor the act. Obviously the act will be carried out in accordance with any local by-laws that affect this activity, and we will seek the authority to do this if necessary (although only the most po-faced bureaucrat is going to mind us cleaning a beach!).

If you have a particular publicly-owned Cornish beach in mind that you would like to see cleaned, or even if you would like to volunteer to help (!), then please let us know by emailing raok@moonestates.com.

Please note that we need around 50 people (depending on the size of the beach and the amount of work involved cleaning it) to select this RAoK for each beach to be cleaned.

Leaving a Book for a Stranger

If you choose to sponsor this RAoK, MoonEstates.com will leave an uplifting and life-affirming book in a random place for someone to find.

MoonEstates.com will choose a book that we think will really cheer someone up, or make a difference to their life and leave it somewhere like a park bench, where a completely random and unknown person will find it. Hopefully if they are interested in the book they will take it, or leave it for the next person to find. And just to make sure there's no confusion, we will leave a short note with the book explaining that someone (you!) has sponsored this Random Act of Kindness and that you hope they enjoy the book. We will give the recipient the opportunity to email us and let us know what they thought of the book and any nice comments we receive will be posted on this website.

We will happily accept any suggestions for books that you've read and really enjoyed, particularly any life-affirming books you know of. Please note that they mustn't have adult content in them at all in case a child finds the book, and shouldn't contain anything else that may cause offence. We've got to leave books that you'd be happy for anyone from your granny to a young child to read! Just send us an email to raok@moonestates.com with your suggestion.
